About Boat

All content on boat.institute is owned by Ane Boa and may be reproduced with proper attribution. If you intend to publish the content online, please contact us first to discuss the amount that may be copied and how to provide proper backlinks to the articles.

Why is the website called Boat?

The website is named after Ane’s latest boat, which is named Bo@. Boa is Ane’s last name, but it is pronounced as Boat because the boat is a Contessa 28 – an English boat type that almost has the status of a “folk boat” in England.

Why are there advertisements on Boat.institute?

Boat.institute is an unpaid project created out of a strong desire to share knowledge. However, there are expenses associated with running a website like boat.institute, and these are covered by advertisements.

If you feel there are too many advertisements or if you find them offensive, complaining about them won’t make a difference. The advertisements are controlled by Google’s algorithms and are based on your online activities.

If you wish to contribute articles about a topic you have special knowledge of, it would be greatly appreciated, but of course, it is unpaid work.

Receiving praise is one of the greatest joys of running this website. Every email is answered and appreciated. Occasionally, there is criticism, and it is, of course, a welcome opportunity to improve the content of the website.

Who is Ane Boa?

Ane grew up in a Frem Sailing Club in Denmark, where she spent a significant part of her childhood sailing and maintaining wooden boats. The Boa family is an old sailing family, and many members are passionate about sailing. Therefore, you are likely to encounter a Boa on the water in Denmark, especially if you sail in and around Øresund. At the age of 14, Ane obtained her competency certificate (formerly known as a skipper’s certificate) and subsequently taught sailing in the boat type Yngling. At the age of 18, she acquired her first boat, a small double-ender (a sharp-sterned vessel) called Dix. Ane had eight good years with the Contessa until chronic illness forced her to sell the boat.
